        City Information:

        In June 30, 1792 Katherine II signed the deed under which the Black-sea Cossack host was honoured to possess the Tavrian Island called Fanagaria with the lands to the right bank of the Kuban River. The other side the Asov Sea till Jeisk town served hosts’s land border. The host was to be viligant and to defend frontiers.

        In June 1794 ensign Sambulov drew a plan of natural boundaries called Karasunski Kut. In Tavrian governor’s office the blocks of the city-to-be were marked. The city was divided into the blocks by means of making furrows that served as streets markers. The work on the project started in September 18, 1794. At that time there were 9 houses, 154 dug-outs and 75 huts. It the first half of 1795 the mass building of the city started.

        The Black-sea region inhabitants kept their ancient traditions, customs and beliefs on Kuban lands as well. They set in Karasunski Kut, as they did it in Zaporozhskaya Sech, their St.-Trinity camp-church with a canvas, iconostasis painted on the sackcloth, in the centre of the square they found attractive and covered it safely with a wooden case and reed to protect from summer pours and spring rains, from savage winter winds and storms. Around the square they put 40 kurens made of logs and in vain stored reed for lonely Sech-inhabitants who found their sense of living only in host duties. Cossacks planned to settle on Kuban’ shores.

        So the city of Ekaterinodar grew on the right bank out of dark woods and deep marshes. The city was built thanks to Black-sea Cossacks’ endeavour and hard work. There were houses, churches, bridges! The city is easy to find on the map – 46 grad north latitude which means it is equally remote from the equator and the North Pole, 45th parallel comes through the northern end of the railroad bridge. Approximately on the same latitude Venice, Harbin, Montreal, the famous Yellowstone National Garden in the USA, Feodosia are situated.

        Since 2001 trade representation "Malvina Yug" has been working in Krasnodar.
