City Information:
The first written mention about Moscow settlement goes back to 1147 which is referred to as the starting point in the city history. Officially Yuri Dolgoruki, the prince of Suzdal, is considered to be the founder of Moscow.
The successors who contributed to the growth of The Moscow State were well-known nowadays Moscow princes and tsars: great princes - Andrew Bogolubski, Ivan Kalita, Ivan the Wise, Dmitri Donskoi; tsars – Ivan the Furious, Boris Godunov, Michael Fiodorovich and many other.
After Peter the Great came to the throne, under his Decree the Russian State was divided into provinces and governors were heading them. The governors acted as the Russian Emperor’s representatives and embodied the unity of legislative and executing power branches on the territories under their rule. They also announced and carried out the laws, issued obligatory decisions under their competence, controlled the institutions and officials’ actions. Up to 1917 Moscow governors served the city and the Russian State wholeheartedly. Many names of theirs are still known to Moscow citizens. Among them such as boyar Streshnev, earl Chernyshev, prince Volkonski, earl Rostopchin, prince Golitsyn and other. Since 1917 the chairmen of Moscow executive committees have been heading local administration. At present the mayor of Moscow is at head.
Since 2000 trade representation "Malvina United" has been working in Moscow.
